HEAD coach Jonathan Woodgate admitted his delight in seeing Cherries in the right place at the right time to seal a priceless 2-1 victory at Bristol City.

The Dorset club earned three points to climb back up into the top-six of the Championship, after Cameron Carter-Vickers got the final touch from Philip Billing’s 88th-minute header.

That came after Junior Stanislas’s strike was fumbled in by Robins keeper Dan Bentley, to cancel out Tyreeq Bakinson’s first-half header.

And Woodgate, who decided to gamble and throw bodies forward late on at Ashton Gate, was pleased to see Cherries’ intent pay dividends.

He said: “We deserved to win the game in my view.

“Junior’s delivery for the second one was a great delivery.

“We have asked players to get in places in the box, so it’s got a chance of going in. It doesn’t matter how it goes in – it counts.

“I thought with final balls and little areas we could have won by a few more.”

Assessing the game as a whole, Woodgate added: “I thought we started really good.

“I thought we really led the ascendancy and maybe could have gone a couple of goals up. They started getting in behind us at times and went 1-0 up.

“Then we got a goal from Junior to go in at 1-1. Second half, I thought we were the better team by a mile.”
