CHRISTIAN Saydee has been permanently recalled to Cherries, Weymouth have confirmed.

However, there is still a chance the 18-year-old could rejoin the Terras later in the season.

Saydee, who failed to register a goal or assist in three appearances for the National League side, was an unused substitute for Cherries' 2-0 FA Cup fifth-round win at Burnley last week.

The striker's impact at the Bob Lucas Stadium was hampered by a period of extended self-isolation after close contacts contracted COVID-19 – a factor Weymouth boss Brian Stock admitted hindered his conditioning.

Stock told the Dorset Echo: “Bournemouth phoned me and wanted to look at Christian potentially going on the bench for Burnley.

“He was recalled back – no different to what happened to Brennan Camp last season.

“Christian went back because, during isolation, his conditioning was decreased massively.

“For someone like Christian, it would flag up a potential injury problem. Between myself and Bournemouth we put him on a two-week plan to build up his fitness.

“When he came on at Aldershot he looked not necessarily the same player that came on at Eastleigh.

“For his own benefit, for him to go back and spend more time on his fitness was the idea.

“Then, they recalled him with a view to bringing him back again at any point this year.”
