CHERRIES are set to begin interviews with candidates interested in becoming the club’s new manager.

The Daily Echo understands the Dorset club have drawn up a shortlist of potential candidates suited for the role, having been inundated with applications over the past week.

The likes of John Terry, Patrick Vieira and David Wagner have been linked with the position to succeed Jason Tindall, who was sacked by the club last week.

Sky Sports are reporting a new manager could be named before the weekend, although the Daily Echo understands second interviews with candidates could also be an option for the club’s board.

It is likely caretaker boss Jonathan Woodgate will still be in charge when Cherries make the trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Speaking to the Daily Echo after last night’s 2-0 victory over Burnley, Woodgate said: “I love winning games and that’s the most important thing for the football club moving forward.

“You can’t really enjoy a win that much, to be honest with you. I’ll be on the bus watching another game to try to prepare for – if I’m told to prepare for it.

“You’ve got to be prepared and that’s what we have been over the two games, so I think it’s important to do that again.

“If we are in charge for the Forest game, we will give it everything we’ve got.”
