CRAWLEY boss John Yems refused to disclose the nature of his half-time team talk against Cherries but insisted his side “put a good show on for themselves” in the second half.

The Red Devils manager was making his return to Vitality Stadium, along with assistant Lee Bradbury for the FA Cup fourth-round tie.

Crawley fell behind to Jack Wilshere’s 24th-minute strike before Tom Nichols levelled up the contest just short of the hour mark, as the visitors looked to rally after the interval.

Joshua King netted the winner for Cherries.

Asked what he said to his team at half-time, Yems replied: “I can’t tell you that because I’d get arrested!”

He added: “Let’s not dress it up. Our goalkeeper was man of the match.

“We were lucky – we could have had a couple, we stuck at it. It took us a while to get going.

“But the one thing that stood us in good stead so far this year is we don’t give in and we keep going to the end.

“It could have gone either way at one stage, or it could have gone to about 16-0 to them at one stage. It’s one of them – they’ve got some good players.

“The money they’re paying, they are entitled to have.

“We did very well. It took us a while to get going – played against a good side but (the players) put a good show on for themselves in the second half.”

Victory for Cherries set up a trip to Burnley in the fifth round.

Boss Jason Tindall said: “Listen we knew they (Crawley) would come here and fight. We knew it was a free-hit for them.

“I felt we were well in control of the game from minute one. I felt we created a number of really good opportunities. The disappointing thing was we didn’t take more of the opportunities we created.

“We scored two good goals but I felt we could have scored quite a few more.

“It was a potential banana-skin for ourselves but first and foremost we wanted to go out there and deliver a really good, attacking performance.

“It was important we performed. We looked a threat every time we went forward.”
