MANAGER Jason Tindall insisted there was “nothing wrong” with himself and Philip Billing and added: “I’ve got a great relationship with Phil.”

The Cherries boss was speaking after confirming he had a conversation with the midfielder, after a social media post surfaced from Billing’s account ahead of last week’s 1-0 defeat to Derby.

The Daily Echo was made aware the Danish midfielder was left out of the squad to face the Rams due to an injury.

But ahead of kick-off at Pride Park, a comment from Billing’s verified Instagram account to a club fan page said: “Didn’t know I was injured.”

Billing took to Twitter the following day to tell fans himself and the manager had “put it to bed”.

Asked about that conversation with the 24-year-old, Tindall told the Daily Echo: “We spoke the day after Derby. The conversation was as expected - it was good.

“We said there was a misunderstanding.

“Phil had a tight hamstring – he came off the training pitch and the physio said his hamstring was tight. Hence why he didn’t travel (to Derby).

“Was he injured? And I think that’s where the confusion came, it was more of a tightness rather than an injury. That’s where the misunderstanding arose.

“There’s nothing wrong with Phil and the group, or Phil and me. I’ve got a great relationship with Phil.

“He’s a great player and he was someone that, when he was in the team, was doing extremely well.”

Billing’s social media post was seen by a number of fans ahead of kick-off at Pride Park before afterwards being deleted.

Asked how important players in general had to be when it came to social media, Tindall replied: “They’ve got to be really careful, as we have seen.

“Listen. It happens all the time at many different clubs.

“Things that get said on social media – a lot of it is innocent – a lot of it just done without any real thought.

“Things end up then causing a stir, causing speculation or getting players in trouble, which in some sense a lot of it can be avoided.

“It just goes to show the power of the damage that it can do – as we’ve seen time and time again up and down the country, around Europe, around the world.

“Players have to be very careful in terms of what they say on their platforms, for sure.”

Billing is expected to be fit for Cherries’ clash with Crawley Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup tomorrow (7pm).
