JACK Wilshere admitted returning to Cherries "was not something that crossed my mind" until he began training again with the Dorset club, but added: "This one just felt right."

Wilshere, who spent a fruitful loan spell at Cherries in the 2016-17 campaign, was without a club for almost four months after leaving West Ham, before signing a short-term deal back at the Vitality Stadium this week.

And the 29-year-old, who had offers from clubs across the globe, explained his decision to link up with the Cherries in the Championship.

"I had a few different options around Europe and Asia and places like that, but when my agent rang me after about a week of training here and said Bournemouth wanted to do something, I was driving home and couldn't stop smiling," he said.

"That felt right to me and I didn't have that feeling from any other club, this one just felt right.

"I had options in the Championship as well but none that made me feel the way Bournemouth did.

"To be honest, it was not something that crossed my mind until I came down here and I started training with the boys and got back into the swing of things.

"Ever since I came to this club four years ago I felt welcome and nothing really changed. As soon as I found out there was an interest from the manager, I couldn’t keep the smile off my face and I think that’s what told me it was the right thing to do."

He added: "I’m excited about the challenges that are coming up and I can’t wait to be involved."
