STEVE Cook has challenged his team-mates to produce an instant response to a "bad week for the club" and begin chasing down the sides ahead of them in the Championship.

Cherries sit third in the table following a disappointing return of one point from home matches against Millwall and Luton Town.

They are four points behind Swansea City and now eight behind leaders Norwich City and could slip to sixth if sides below win their games in hand.

Defeat to Luton on Saturday was the fourth time Cherries have been beaten in the Championship this term. After each other loss, Jason Tindall's men have bounced back with a win straightaway.

And they have the chance to do that again tonight when they head to relegation-threatened Derby County.

"Fortunately games are coming thick and fast and we can put it right on Tuesday hopefully," Cook told the Daily Echo.

"It’s not just the Luton game, we had a frustrating game on Tuesday night (against Millwall) as well.

"Ultimately it’s been a bad week for the club, but we’re just over halfway now and we need to get points on the board on Tuesday night.

"It’s another tough game for us, we have to go there, impose ourselves and get back to winning ways."

Discussing the fact Cherries have always bounced back from losses in the past under Tindall, Cook added: "We’ve got good characters and hopefully our experience can lead to another game where we bounce back.

"But you don’t want to be losing too many more. We have to now go on a run of winning games.

"Can we test ourselves and be the team that chases down the teams that are above us?

"We’ve got players that haven’t done this in the Championship, but also we’ve got players that have so we need to bring that together and start winning games.

"But days like on Saturday we need to be grinding results out, same as Tuesday, grinding results out and get back to being a full team rather than just nice, pretty football."
