JASON Tindall was left seething at the decision from referee David Webb to send off Jefferson Lerma against Luton this afternoon.

The Colombian was shown a straight red card after his arm caught the face of defender Tom Lockyer as the pair challenged for a header.

Lockyer was forced off after his head was bloodied by the collision.

Luton went on to win the game 1-0 thanks to a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall strike.

But Tindall was left in doubt that Webb got the key decision in the game wrong, with Cherries set to appeal the red card.

"I thought it was an outrageous decision," said the Cherries boss.

"I think everyone that would have seen it would agree with that. I can’t believe the referee would come to that conclusion.

He continued: "I thought we were doing well until that point and that we were by far the better team and that we would have won that comfortably.

"It was a pivotal moment. Jeff’s gone up for a header, one of their lads has knocked him off balance and he caught him with his trailing arm.

"I think the referee has just reacted maybe off a bit of blood that their lad received off the back of it. Because I can’t think of any other reason as to why he would’ve sent him off.

"I think everybody is of the same opinion as myself and anyone that has seen that decision, I don’t think you even have to know too much about football to know that that’s not a red card.

"It just goes to highlight the quality of the officiating here. We’ve been very fortunate to see officiating in the Premier League for five seasons and there’s a huge gulf in quality."

Asked if he had to try and calm the players down after the red card, Tindall said: "When a decision like that is made and it’s so blatantly obvious to everybody that it’s the wrong decision, you can’t help but be frustrated.

"I think we see that with the players at the time all on the pitch, you see that with Jefferson Lerma and you see that with their players and their bench even knowing that wasn’t a red card.

"I think there was a lot of frustration initially. The lads couldn’t believe the decision even at half-time.

"But you have to put that behind you and go out there and focus on the game. I felt the lads gave everything today and unfortunately we’ve ended up coming away with nothing."
