LLOYD Kelly was withdrawn from the Cherries squad to face Oldham today due to a calf concern.

The defender was due to be part of the 20-man group to take on the Latics in the FA Cup third-round tie at Vitality Stadium.

However, boss Jason Tindall took the decision to leave out the defender and name eight substitutes, rather than the permitted nine.

Asked why there was a spare spot on the bench, Tindall told the Daily Echo: "Unfortunately, Lloyd Kelly was in the squad today and he just had a little bit of a calf awareness off the back of training yesterday.

"Nothing to really worry about too much, but I had to make the decision to pull him out of the squad this afternoon. The other guys had already trained so hence why there was only eight subs."

Tindall also revealed Dan Gosling had picked up a knock in the first half against the Latics.

The midfielder wore the captain's armband for the contest, but was replaced by Diego Rico at the break.

"Goso had to come off with a slight little injury at half-time," Tindall confirmed.
