CHERRIES have again been linked with a move for Preston North End defender Ben Davies.

The Daily Echo understands Cherries did retain an interest in the 25-year-old over the summer and it was reported by various outlets that they saw a bid of around £5million rejected in September.

The left-footed centre-back came through the ranks at Preston and has made more than 100 appearances for the club.

However, his contract with the Lilywhites is understood to be expiring this summer, with Mail Online claiming he has turned down the latest contract offer from the Lancashire club.

The same report says Cherries, Sheffield United, Celtic and Belgian club Genk are all interested in Davies.

He has remained an important part of Preston's side this season, featuring 15 times including playing the full 90 minutes of a 3-2 win over Cherries at Vitality Stadium last month.

Alex Neil's men sit 12th in the Championship table.
