CHERRIES star Lloyd Kelly helped England under-21s keep a clean sheet – as they sealed a comfortable 5-0 home triumph over Albania in a Euro 2021 qualifier.

Kelly played 90 minutes for the Young Lions, as Jamal Musiala struck on his full England under-21 debut.

The Bayern Munich midfielder announced himself with a goal on an impressive night at Molineux.

Eddie Nketiah netted a second-half brace and also missed a late penalty after Callum Hudson-Odoi and James Justin put England in charge.

And while his side showed off their attacking talent throughout the contest in Wolverhampton, manager Aidy Boothroyd was happy for Kelly and his team-mates to produce a clean sheet.

He said: “Despite the scoreline, I was a bit concerned prior to it because we’d not kept a clean sheet in a while. To score five and finish off the campaign like that is really pleasing.

“For me it’s not conceding. The strikers might win the games but good defences generally win championships.”

The Young Lions finished their Euro 2021 campaign unbeaten and top of Group Three, winning nine games and drawing one.

They now await next month’s group stage draw ahead of the first part of the tournament in March with the knockout phase held in May and June.
