QPR midfielder Luke Amos is set to miss the rest of the season after a knee injury suffered against Cherries on Saturday.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man pulled up in the 70th minute of the 0-0 draw at Vitality Stadium having got his studs caught in the pitch whilst trying to put in a tackle on Diego Rico.

And QPR have today confirmed the news that the 23-year-old will be forced to undergo surgery having ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

QPR head of medical services Dr Imtiaz Ahmad said: “Unfortunately the results of the scan are what we feared – Luke has ruptured his ACL in his right knee.

"Luke suffered a similar injury two years ago to his left knee before he joined us, so he is fully aware of what is required to make a successful return.

"Recovery times for these injuries can vary between seven to nine months.

"Unfortunately with that timescale in mind, it is unlikely Luke will feature again this season."

Cherries issued their support to the youngster via Twitter, posting: "We are saddened to hear about the injury sustained by QPR’s Luke Amos on Saturday.

"Everyone at AFC Bournemouth sends their best wishes to Luke as he begins his recovery."
