JASON Tindall admitted he did not get too much time to reflect on a whirlwind first two months in charge at Cherries - but said he was “pleased with the way everything's gone up until now”.

The 42-year-old was today nominated for September’s Championship manager of the Month award, two months on from officially stepping into the hot seat to replace Eddie Howe.

Cherries have picked up 10 points from their opening four league fixtures – a solid start despite losing the likes of Nathan Ake, Callum Wilson and Aaron Ramsdale from last season’s Premier League squad.

Reflecting on the past two months as manager at Vitality Stadium, Tindall told the Daily Echo: “You don't really get time to think to be honest, with the nature of the fixture list as well.

“You're preparing and you're playing games and never a day goes by you can actually sit down and think too much of what's happened in the past.

“As it's gone so far, pleased with the points we've got on the board and pleased with the way everything's gone up until now.

“Hopefully that will remain and continue and hopefully we'll get better as we go along."

A long-time assistant to previous boss Howe, Tindall now has former first-team coach Stephen Purches alongside him, as his own Cherries number two.

And the manager believes the pair’s strong relationship has been a huge benefit in leading the club into a new era.

“I've known Purchy longer than I've known Eddie, really,” said Tindall.

“Purchy's been a close friend of mine and he's doing a fantastic job alongside me.

“You don't really get to think too much because you're forever working, you're forever preparing and you're doing what you need to do that's in front of you and getting the team ready and right to face their next challenge. That's really been my only focus.”

With the international break now in full swing, Cherries’ next test comes at home against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, October 17.

“I think when you're doing well, you want the games to come round quickly and almost continue that momentum,” said Tindall.

“I think the plus side of the international break coming around when it is, is it gives players like Lloyd Kelly and Junior Stanislas, players that are carrying one or two injuries, the opportunity to get back fitter and back involved a lot quicker.

“It's been a hectic schedule. The guys will have a couple of days to rest and recover and a bit of free time, which I think is important to do that, ready to come back to work and tackle the next block of games that are going to be in front of us.”
