HARRY Redknapp believes “fantastic footballer” Jack Wilshere would “still do a job if he’s fit” and said Cherries could look at the midfielder.

Wilshere, 28, was this week released by West Ham despite having a year left on his contract.

He played 27 times in the Premier League for Cherries on loan from Arsenal, during the 2016-17 campaign.

And, speaking on Sky Sports News, former Cherries boss Redknapp believes Wilshere could be someone the Dorset club “might look at”.

The former West Ham and Tottenham manager said: “He had a great spell at Bournemouth – went to Bournemouth on loan.

“He might be a player they might look at and think ‘well okay’. They are looking to get back into the Premier (League).

“He might be someone they might look to do, to take on maybe more of a pay-as-you-play type deal with him.

“If it doesn’t work out and he gets injured. There’s not such a downside – they might do a deal – someone like that.

“He’d still do a job if he’s fit. He’s a fantastic footballer.”

Posting on Instagram following his departure from London Stadium, Wilshere said: “Although of course I am frustrated that I was not fully able to showcase what I am capable of at West Ham I remain convinced I can still contribute at the very top of the game.

“I am still incredibly hungry, ambitious and desperate to play football and achieve success. I’m still only 28 and feel fit, strong and ready to play.

“I’m now looking forward to the future and hope to be able to make an announcement about the next stage of my career in due course.”
