CHERRIES defender Charlie Daniels announced his return to match action in emphatic fashion with a stunning strike from 45 yards out.

The stalwart full-back scored the second of Cherries’ goals in a 3-2 victory for Shaun Cooper’s under-21s at National League Yeovil.

Having placed the ball down to take a free-kick at Huish Park, Daniels spotted Glovers keeper Adam Smith off his line and lobbed him with a well-struck left-foot effort.

Jaidon Anthony netted twice for the visitors, including the winner in the 88th minute.

Daniels, who turned 34 this month, has been training with Cherries’ first team as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.

He last featured at senior level in August 2019, having dislocated the patella in his right knee against Manchester City.

The former Tottenham man is looking to earn a new deal at Cherries, after his previous contract expired at the end of last season.
