CHERRIES are "not close" to completing their first signing of this transfer window, confirmed boss Jason Tindall.

The Dorset club are yet to add to their squad which was relegated from the Premier League last season.

Since Tindall took charge last month, Cherries have sold stars Nathan Ake, Aaron Ramsdale and Callum Wilson for a total of just under £80million, as well as bringing in minimal fees through the sales of Alex Dobre and Matt Butcher.

Andrew Surman, Artur Boruc and Simon Francis have also been released, while Ryan Fraser and Jordon Ibe departed the club on free transfers earlier this summer with Harry Wilson also returning to Liverpool after his loan spell came to an end.

But Tindall says his first signing as Cherries boss is not imminent.

"We’re not close to bringing anyone in and we’re certainly not going to rush anything," he told the Daily Echo.

"I think the most important thing for us is to make sure that when we do sign a player, it’s the right player and that’s what we’re aiming to do.

"As and when, or if, that happens then I’m sure you guys will probably be one of the first to find out."
