CHERRIES will host Premier League opposition in the second round of the Carabao Cup, welcoming Crystal Palace to Vitality Stadium.

Roy Hodgson's Eagles last travelled to Dorset during Project Restart, winning 2-0 back in June.

The third-round draw has also taken place.

Should Cherries get past Palace, they will face a tough assignment in round three - away at cup holders Manchester City.

The draws were conducted live on Sky Sports by former Liverpool defender and 1995 EFL Cup winner Phil Babb.

Round two was regionalised with Cherries featuring in the southern section, while round three was an open draw with the leading Premier League sides also entering.

Second-round ties are due to take place on either September 15 or 16.

Round three then begins the following midweek, with games scheduled for September 22 or 23.

Those games will fit around Cherries' opening three Championship games against Blackburn Rovers (September 12), Middlesbrough (September 19) and Norwich City (September 25).

Cherries beat Forest Green Rovers on penalties to reach the third round of last year's Carabao Cup, before losing at Burton Albion.
