SIMON Francis admits he is "not sure" if he will still be at Cherries next season as talks continue regarding his future.

The 35-year-old has been at the Dorset club since 2011, taking the captain's armband in 2016.

But he is now a free agent after his contract with Cherries expired at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Francis has made no secret of his desire to stay at the club, with new boss Jason Tindall on Tuesday telling the Daily Echo he planned to sit down with him, as well as fellow out-of-contract duo Charlie Daniels and Andrew Surman, this week.

Speaking to the Southend Echo, the defender said: “It’s been a tough year personally and for the club (Cherries) as well.

“I’ve had a couple of knee injuries which is never good at my age. I have to manage myself and take my time but I’m looking to get back fit.

“Talks are ongoing contract wise and I’m not sure what the situation is.

“Jason Tindall has come in now and I think there’s going to be a huge transition in the next few weeks so I’ll have to see what happens.”

Francis made 18 appearances for Cherries last season.
