THROUGH THE TAPES – JULY 6, 2011
ANOTHER week, another sensational performance from Pirates’ showman Darcy Ward.
Ward was at his thrilling best as he helped Poole continue their Elite League dominance at Wimborne Road in a commanding 58-36 victory over King’s Lynn.
Pirates have been able to rely on solid scoring throughout their line-up this season but the most eye-catching efforts have come from big guns Ward and Chris Holder.
Holder was again unbeaten by an opposition rider, while captain Davey Watt should not be forgotten as he claimed three wins in his 11-point haul.
But more than any of his team-mates, it was Ward who provided Pirates' fans with rich value for their entrance money. His heat-seven pass of Mads Korneliussen was exceptional and ensured a faultless maximum.
It was just the latest in a series of displays that have proved his star quality.
Pirates: 1 Chris Holder 13+2, 2 Dennis Andersson 7+1, 3 Davey Watt 11, 4 Jason Doyle 3+2, 5 Darcy Ward 15, 6 Renat Gafurov 7, 7 Kyle Newman 2.
