POOLE Town boss Tom Killick has moved to bolster his striking resources by making an audacious approach for Hamworthy United hitman Jack Swann.

With Dolphins thin on the ground up front following the loss of Karim Benssaouda and Stuart Cannie, Killick admitted he is keen to add some "much-needed" pace to his striking options.

And prize asset Swann, restricted to just three appearances for Phil Simkin's Hammers this season following shoulder and hamstring injuries, appears to be top of Killick's wanted list.

"We've put in a seven-day approach and once that expires, we'll be looking to talk to him and he'll have a decision to make," Killick told the Echo last night.

"It's no secret we're lacking a bit of firepower having lost both Karim and Stuart Cannie and although Jack would be cup-tied if he did sign for us, he could be useful for us.

"We're not blessed with a great deal of pace in terms of the forwards we've got and that's his main attribute.

"I'm keen to try and do something but he may well decide to stay where he is - I don't know."

Killick's approach is sure to ruffle the feathers of bitter rival Simkin.

The controversial Hammers boss claimed back in October that his side would be top of the Wessex Premier Division "if they had Poole's budget".

When asked by the Echo if he was worried about Simkin's reaction to the Swann approach, Killick replied: "I'd better put my tin hat on I think."

Meanwhile, Killick has completed the loan signing of Dorchester Town's Portuguese frontman Hardy Pinto-Moreira.

Pinto-Moreira, who spent pre-season training with League One side Yeovil Town before signing a full-time deal with Magpies in August, scored on his Blue Square South debut at St Albans City.

However, with Shaun Brooks's injury woes lessening, Pinto-Moreira has been limited to just a handful of first-team appearances at the Avenue Stadium this term.

Killick said: "I think he's only started three games and more often than not he's been a substitute.

"We're excited to have him and we should have him for at least a month."
