BOURNEMOUTH-based Willy van Rysel, Britain's oldest female competitive swimmer, is to be honoured in the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Florida for the third time.

The 91-year-old, who has previously been recognised in both the masters and long distance categories, was unanimously chosen by the ISHOF to be a "2008 honour swimmer".

The honour follows her remarkable achievements in 2006, when she broke 22 world masters records for the 90-94 age group including four in one race.

  • South East Dorset schools won all but one of the 12 titles on offer at the county secondary schools relay championships at Rossmore, Poole.

The senior boys' events provided the closest contests with just 0.19sec covering the first three teams in the 4x50m freestyle, won by Bournemouth School for Boys.

Bournemouth School claimed two more wins in the intermediate freestyle and medley.

Twynham School also registered three victories, Bournemouth School for Girls and Parkstone Grammar two each while Queen Elizabeth's at Wimborne won the intermediate girls' freestyle.

The fastest 12 teams from each event in every county in England will be selected for ESSA national finals at Sheffield on February 2.
