THROUGH THE TAPES – MAY 1 2006

IT was the Grzegorz Walasek and Antonio Lindback Spectacular as Pirates demolished Coventry 55-38 in front of Sky’s cameras.

The fast-gating Pole, astride a Craig Boyce-tuned engine, jetted away from the tapes like lightning to scorch to his first British paid maximum.

And the Rio Rocket, who proved the perfect foil to Walasek’s fantastic gating skills, joined his partner out front as they reeled off four 5-1s that outgunned the Bees.

They each also stormed to race victories in their other outings, with Lindback capping a great night for Poole with a brilliant third-to-first burst in heat 14.

With Bjarne Pedersen also weighing in with an 11 paid 12-point maximum, it was the first time three Pirates had scored maximums in the same league meeting for five-and-a-half years.

Victory put Pirates up to fifth in the table.

Pirates: 1 Bjarne Pedersen 11+1, 2 Craig Boyce 7, 3 Grzegorz Walasek 14+1, 4 Antonio Lindback 12+3, 5 Krzysztof Kasprzak 5, 6 Jonas Davidsson 3+1, 7 Daniel Davidsson 3.
