PHILIP Billing reiterated his desire to represent Denmark at senior international level, despite being approached to play for Nigeria.
The Copenhagen-born star, who qualifies for Nigeria through his father, has featured for Denmark throughout the youth levels.
Despite being an unused substitute for the Danes on a number of occasions, the all-action midfielder is yet to play in a competitive senior international – meaning he is still eligible to switch nations.
But Cherries star Billing insisted he would stay loyal to the country of his birth.
In quotes translated from Danish newspaper BT, the 23-year-old said: “I think there are some rumours (about Nigeria) that came out of nowhere. When I saw it, I thought it might be good just to make a Danish article about it, so that people don't start to believe it.
"It would be strange to stand up for Nigeria when I feel 100 per cent Danish.
"I've talked to the (Nigeria) coach, but I know where I want to play.
"He just said he really wanted me to play for Nigeria, because the upcoming World Cup and Africa Cup of Nations will be played soon.
"I made it pretty clear to him that I wanted to play for Denmark. That's my big dream."
