CO-PROMOTER Danny Ford is excited to hear insight from two key members’ of Pirates’ class of 2013, as the club goes back through the archives once again tomorrow (7.30pm).

The Wimborne Road outfit are set to show the second leg of their Elite League grand final victory at Birmingham from seven years ago – followed up by reaction from Darcy Ward and Greg Hancock, as well as owner Matt Ford.

Pirates overcame the Brummies 47-43 away from home to seal the spoils, with an aggregate success of 104-79.

Danny Ford said: "It looks to be an exciting night on Wednesday. It is going to be a real international thing which of course makes social distancing even easier!

“We had a good few laughs last week when Darcy, Chris Holder and Davey Watt were on camera and I think we can be in for some more insights with Greg and Darcy on Wednesday.

“Those two were the mainstay of our first-leg victory in 2013, dropping just one point between them, performances that helped towards putting us in the driving seat for the second leg."

Hancock has now retired from racing with his attentions focused on helping his wife Jenny fight her cancer battle.

Ward's career was cut short in August 2015 following a track crash that shocked world speedway to the core.

The meeting will be shown on Pirates' YouTube channel and Facebook page, with the post-meeting reaction following.

Pirates have delved into the archives during the coronavirus pandemic, while the wait to resume live British speedway continues.
