THROUGH THE TAPES…
MAY 12 2010 – PIRATES 63 IPSWICH 30
AN ARRAY of stars have been born in Pirates’ skull and crossbones kevlars over the past decade – Bjarne Pedersen, Antonio Lindback, Krzysztof Kasprzak and Chris Holder to name but a few.
But it would be no surprise if Artur Mroczka and Leon Madsen join this prestigious group in the coming years after they inspired Poole to a 63-30 annihilation of Ipswich at Wimborne Road.
Holder continued to show the form that has taken him to sixth in the World Championship rankings after rattling off a 14 paid 15-point maximum.
He has turned his ambitions of becoming a world-beater from a dream into a reality since making his Pirates bow in 2008.
And three of his team-mates look set to follow him, as Mroczka, Madsen and Darcy Ward continue to compete for the limelight.
Many expected World Under-21 champion Ward to be the shooting star in Pirates’ ocean of young talent.
But reserve duo Mroczka and Madsen continue to rival the 18-year-old, after bagging nine paid 12 and 10 paid 11 respectively.
Victory ensured Pirates remained dominant at the top of the Elite League.
Poole: 1 Chris Holder 14+1, 2 Darcy Ward 5+2, 3 Bjarne Pedersen 10, 4 Jason Doyle 5+1, 5 Davey Watt 10+1, 6 Leon Madsen 10+1, 7 Artur Mrozcka 9+3.
