FORMER Premier League striker Kevin Phillips believes Cherries winger Jordon Ibe could “resurrect his career” with a move to Celtic.

Winger Ibe, whose contract is up at Cherries in June, has been linked with move to the Scottish giants.

The 24-year-old has only played four times in the first team for the Dorset club this campaign, most recently in a 2-0 defeat to Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup back in September.

And Phillips, who scored 92 times in 263 Premier League games, believes Ibe could spark a revival if he joins Neil Lennon’s side.

Phillips told Football Insider: “Jordon Ibe, his career has hit the railroads.

“A move north of the border might give him a chance to resurrect his career and get back to the Ibe we have seen over the years. The quality down here (in England) is far superior to Scotland.

“If they can get him on the cheap it could be a really good signing for Celtic. The way they bring players on and what does Neil Lennon does up there.

“It could be a good move for the lad. Playing in front of those amazing supporters will give him an extra 10 per cent.”

Asked last month whether Ibe had played his final game for Cherries, manager Eddie Howe replied: “I’m not going to give you a definitive answer to that.

“I’d be foolish if I sat here and said ‘no, he’s played his last game’ and then he ended up playing again. I never shut the door on anybody until they have left the club.

“But certainly, he’s got a long way back from here.”
