DORSET & Wilts under-20s got their Jason Leonard County Championship season started with a 22-6 win over Hampshire.

Held at Trowbridge RFC, Martyn Peel handed debuts to 15 players and it was a nervy start to the contest.

Dorset led 9-6 at half-time thanks to a hat-trick of Alex Peel penalties, cancelling out two from Jonah North.

The first try finally arrived after the restart with Bournemouth youngster Ethan Goudie taking the honours of being the first man to score a try for his county this season, diving over in the corner.

The Twin Counties extended their advantage to 17-6 with another Peel penalty, before Matt Strong sealed the win, collecting a loose ball and sprinting through from 30 metres out, leaving two defenders in his wake.
