CHRISTCHURCH kept up their push for the Wessex Premier title after recording a resounding 5-1 success over Shaftesbury at Hurn Bridge.

Victory put Ollie Cherrett’s men, currently in fourth spot, 11 points behind Alresford Town in the league table with four games in hand on the table-toppers.

Matt Neale opened the scoring for the hosts after just 11 minutes before Max Wilcock doubled Christchurch’s advantage shortly after the break.

Nick Hewlett pulled a goal back for Shaftesbury just after the hour mark before Priory turned on the style.

Harvey Wright made it 3-1 and a late brace from Ben Satterley ensured the hosts ran out comfortable winners.

Elsewhere in the division, a converted penalty from Conor Whiteley along with goals from Harry Morgan and Lewis Ross gave Bashley a 3-1 victory over Brockenhurst, who had struck in the opening minute through Freddie Bullard.

Bash are seventh in the league table, with 15 wins coming from 29 league contests.

Lymington stayed fifth despite being beaten 4-1 at title-hopefuls Alresford. Sam House netted what proved to be a consolation for Lymo.

In Wessex One, Asa Drodge’s 55th-minute goal proved not enough for New Milton, as they went down 2-1 at home to Whitchurch United.

Defeat was the hosts’ 15th in the league this season, they are 16th in the table with 22 points from 29 games.

Ringwood were beaten 1-0 at East Cowes Victoria, meaning they remain in 14th spot.
