MAX Wilcock fired in a hat-trick as Christchurch got back to winning ways with a resounding 6-0 success at Solent University in Wessex Premier.

Priory had recorded six victories in succession without conceding before a midweek defeat to neighbours Hamworthy United last time out.

But they quickly brushed that loss off at Test Park, moving 2-0 ahead by half-time through goals from Wilcock and Kyle Graham.

Wilcock completed his hat-trick after the break before a late Ashley Pope double added further gloss to the scoreline.

And that win moves Christchurch closer to top spot after previous leaders AFC Stoneham fell to a 2-0 defeat at Lymington Town.

Sam House and Alex Sawyer netted for Lymo, who sit fifth.

Alresford Town are the new pacesetters after they swept aside Poppies 4-1. Edgar Zanin scored the consolation goal for struggling Poppies.

Those results leave Christchurch in fourth, 11 points off Alresford but with four games in hand.

Meanwhile, Brockenhurst had an afternoon to forget, going down 5-1 at home to Portland United. Mitchell Speechley-Price netted for Brock, but Ryan McKechnie's hat-trick set Portland on their way to victory.

Bashley slipped to ninth after a 2-0 home defeat by Horndean.

In Wessex One, Lee Vint's goal helped Verwood Town climb up to 12th with a 1-1 draw at Bemerton Heath Harlequins.

Ringwood Town stay 14th, also picking up a point on the road with Ryan Hamm's effort earning a 1-1 at Downton.

New Milton Town are a place further back following their 1-0 loss at Andover New Street.
