MANAGER Eddie Howe revealed how a kick to the head in training left defender Nathan Ake with concussion and kept him out against Burnley.
The Netherlands international did travel to Turf Moor with his team-mates but could only watch on as the Dorset club suffered a 3-0 defeat.
Howe told the Daily Echo: “Nathan had a kick to the head in training, suffered a very mild concussion.
“I think the rule was that he couldn’t play for five days. Saturday was the fourth day, so if it was Sunday he would have played.
“That’s just our luck at the minute as well.”
The boss also gave an update on midfielder Jefferson Lerma, who missed the contest at Turf Moor due to a rib injury sustained against Aston Villa three weeks ago.
The Colombian was sent off in that contest, meaning he was suspended for the clash with Sheffield United earlier this month.
“Jefferson picked up a rib injury against Aston Villa in his last game,” added Howe.
“We hope it’s nothing too serious.”
