AN early try from Grant Hancox proved not enough at Esher as Bournemouth’s National Two South struggles continued.
Lions were well beaten 40-7 at Molesey Road to remain bottom of the table.
Hancox had levelled the contest at 7-7 after eight minutes for the Chapel Gate outfit but, following that score, Lions found it tough going.
Tries from Esher’s Tom James and a penalty try put the hosts 19-7 ahead at the interval.
James then neatly offloaded to Dan Rowland to touch down for the hosts soon after the break – as they began to dominate proceedings.
Harrison Collins then went over following a powerful maul and Rowland crossed the whitewash for the second time on the day to ensure Lions were well beaten.
Bournemouth remain bottom of the pile with two wins from 21 league games. They are four points adrift of second-from-bottom Sutton & Epsom.
Lions host Barnes at Chapel Gate on Saturday.
