PUNDIT Robbie Savage believes Cherries will fail in their quest to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season and insists: "It's worrying times for Bournemouth."

The former Wales international watched Eddie Howe's side succumb to a fightback from high-flying Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.

Callum Wilson in the 13th minute volleyed the Dorset club into the lead, however, the Blades rallied back with a smart finish from Billy Sharp on the stroke of half-time.

The hosts grabbed a winner late on through substitute John Lundstram following a neat ball by former Cherries striker Lys Mousset.

Speaking after the game on BT Sport, Savage said: "It's worrying times for Bournemouth.

"If they finish 17th then it will be a successful season. It would be a massive blow to go down.

"I don't think they will survive looking at those (remaining) fixtures."

Defeat ensured Cherries failed to pull further away from the relegation zone. Howe's charges sit 16th on 26 points after as many matches.

Over the final 12 games of the season they face eight of 10 sides currently occupying the top half of the Premier League table.

The side travel to Burnley on February 22 following their winter break.
