EDDIE Howe believes Aaron Ramsdale is “in the frame” for a senior England call-up and insisted “he’s got a chance” of being part of Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2020 squad.

The 21-year-old, a regular for Aidy Boothroyd’s England under-21 set-up, played a starring role in Cherries’ 3-1 Premier League victory over Brighton last time out.

Ramsdale has the likes of Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Dean Henderson and Fraser Forster to compete with for a spot at the summer tournament.

Quizzed on the Cherries keeper’s Euro 2020 chances, Howe said: “I’m sure he’s in the frame. I am sure they are very aware of Aaron from his good work with the young England teams he’s been involved in.

“I think it was probably his best performance for us this season on Tuesday.

“He made a number of good saves but also his general demeanour was that of a very confident goalkeeper. Someone who was in a very good place mentally.”

Despite missing one game through a hamstring problem, no English goalkeeper has pulled off more saves than Ramsdale in the top flight this season.

Only Mat Ryan, Bernd Leno and Martin Dubravka have made more stops.

“If he does play to his potential between now and the end of the season – he’s got a chance,” said Howe.

“But that shouldn’t be his priority. I’d urge him, similar to all the players that are thinking about the summer to focus on the next game.

“Focus on being your best, focus on your team and club football because that’s going to define what you do afterwards.”
