EDDIE Howe revealed winger Arnaut Danjuma is yet to return to the club as he continues his recovery from a troublesome foot injury.

Summer signing Danjuma, who missed the first part of the campaign due to stress fracture in his foot suffered during pre-season, returned to play 10 times for his new club between September and December.

But he has not featured since last month’s loss to Liverpool after suffering the same injury, but in his opposite foot.

In a bid to try and treat the latest knock, Danjuma travelled with fellow injury victims Adam Smith and Lloyd Kelly to receive specialist treatment at Aspetar, the world-renowned orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital based in the Qatari capital of Doha.

Smith has since returned to first-team action, while Kelly is also back among the Cherries squad. But for Danjuma, the recovery is now continuing in his home nation of Holland.

And while it is hoped the Dutch international can return to action next month, he is yet to return to England.

Asked if Danjuma was back in the country, boss Howe told the Daily Echo: “No, he’s not back with us.

“He’s been in Qatar, he’s been in Holland. He’s been seeing various specialists in different countries.

“We felt it was wise after the recurrence of his stress fracture to try and get him to see the best specialists, the best people around the world to get to the root of the problem and when we get him back this time, hopefully he stays back with us.

“So that’s what he’s been doing.

“He’s been away from the club for a long period of time now. Hopefully we’ll get him back soon and when he is back, he’ll be close to training.”

Howe previously described the 22-year-old’s visit to Aspetar as “brilliant”, before adding that Cherries “have got to be very careful with the type of injury that it is”.

Speaking shortly after the diagnosis of Danjuma’s injury in December, Howe said: “He is very down because you come to a new club and you really want to make a difference. He can’t do that at the moment.

“He is really keen to do well for us. He was very enthusiastic to come to the club, play for the supporters and for everyone connected with the club.

“When you can’t do it and it’s through no fault of his, no fault of ours, it’s just one of those things that’s happened.”

Danjuma, who joined Cherries for £13.7million from Club Brugge, posted a message on Instagram three weeks ago thanking fans for their support during his injury lay-off, adding how he was “nearly there” in his recovery.
