EDDIE Howe believes Dominic Solanke's first goal for the club was "probably the lucky bounce he hasn't had" so far during his Cherries career.

The striker found the net in the 82nd minute, slotting in to seal a 4-0 win over Luton Town in the FA Cup having had a first-half header ruled out due to an offside.

Solanke had previously gone 30 matches for the club without scoring since arriving from Liverpool last January for a fee of around £17.5million.

“I am very pleased for Dominic. Performance-wise, he’s been very good since he’s signed for us," said boss Howe.

“He just hasn’t had the confirmation of those performances with the goals. He needed that.

“The first one being disallowed would have been really hard on him. It was a great goal, great header from his perspective and I think harshly ruled out.

“But he kept going I was really pleased to see that one drop to him – probably the lucky bounce he hasn’t had the whole time since he’s been here."

Solanke told afcbTV: "It feels amazing, especially after the disallowed one at first. My emotions were a bit all over the place but I managed to get the goal at the end, so I'm delighted."

Discussing his disallowed header in the first half, Solanke added: "Especially after the header in the last game (which hit the post) I made sure that I made sure I got the right contact on this one and I thought I scored. I thought it was a corner so there wouldn't be anything wrong with it but Harry (Wilson) managed to be a bit offside and it managed to get disallowed.

"I was quite angry at that, but I managed to get the result at the end."
