A GOAL from Marvin Brooks against his former club Salisbury could not save Poole Town from a 2-1 defeat in Southern League South.

Brooks had made it 1-1 after 46 minutes at Raymond McEnhill Stadium, cancelling out Bay Downing’s successful 23rd-minute penalty.

But Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick’s late winner condemned Dolphins to their fourth defeat on the spin.

Poole had earlier in the day announced the loan signings of Cherries youngsters James Oliver and Luke Pardoe, the latter was named on the bench for the encounter.

Salisbury took the lead however, when former Poole frontman Warren Bentley was fouled by Corby Moore in the box.

Downing sent goalkeeper Luke Cairney the wrong way to open the scoring.

Dolphins rallied and got back on level terms when Brooks stabbed home from close range within a minute of the second half.

But Salisbury were to have the final say, Hippolyte-Patrick’s drive flew through a sea of bodies to make it 2-1 and seal all three points.

Dolphins: Cairney, Dixon, Maybury, Leslie-Smith, Whisken, Smeeton (Tavares, 85), Carmichael, Moore, Baker, Brooks, Holmes (Pardoe, 87). Unused subs: Sampson, Phillips, Jackson.
