BOSS Eddie Howe insisted it was “right” to let Harry Wilson be assessed by parent club Liverpool and believed his injury would not be “long-term”.

The Wales international, who agreed a season-long loan move to Cherries from Anfield in the summer, was this week sent back to Merseyside to check an ongoing leg problem.

But Howe insisted the Premier League leaders were happy with the winger’s progress and he should return to the Dorset club next week.

Asked for an update on Wilson, Howe told the Daily Echo: “He has been with Liverpool all week, so we haven’t seen him but I’m confident he is not going to be a long-term problem.

“We wanted Liverpool to have a good look at him just to check that he was okay. I think it’s right the parent club gets a chance to see their player.

“He had been struggling with this injury for two to three weeks and I think it was time for them just to cast their eye over him.

“They have been happy with everything and I think he will be back with us next week.”

Wilson has scored six times in 14 appearances in the top flight this season, his inaugural campaign at England’s elite level.

Asked more about the link between his side and Jurgen Klopp’s men, Howe added: “I have tremendous respect for them, how they are working, what they are doing and the people involved at the football club.

“Hopefully they feel the same way about us.”
