DERBY County boss Phillip Cocu revealed he tried to re-sign Harry Wilson on loan from Liverpool this season before the winger joined Cherries.
The 22-year-old, who was this week set to go back to Merseyside for assessment on a leg injury, joined Eddie Howe’s men on a season-long loan deal back in August.
He has scored six goals in 14 games this season, his first taste of action in the top flight.
Wilson had scored 18 times in 50 games for the Rams under Frank Lampard last season, also registering six assists.
And Cocu, who was appointed Championship Derby boss in July, admitted he would have liked to work with the Wales international.
Speaking to Derbyshire Live, he said: “We waited, and we had contact a long time with Liverpool but in the end it was a great transfer for him (Wilson) to play Premier League (with Cherries).
“It is a great move.”
