WIMBORNE Town assistant James Stokoe believes new recruit Ashley Wells could be a “useful addition” to Magpies’ squad.

Defender Wells has played more than 300 games for Weymouth, having last week arrived at Cuthbury from the Terras.

Wells, who has also spent time at Dorchester this season, featured in last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat to Swindon Supermarine.

He could be involved when Magpies visit Weston-super-Mare in Southern League South on Saturday (3pm).

Stokoe told Radio Wimborne: “We had lost Billy (Maybury), Paddy (Hester) is injured so we were two defenders light. Ashley became available, got offered to us and he has experience at this level.

“He has played a lot of games for Weymouth over the years and Danny just thought it was right to throw him straight in at right-back on Saturday. I thought he had a very good game.

“He has been around, he’s got experience. You don’t play that many games for Weymouth if you are a bad player.

“He showed on Saturday he can be a useful addition for us for the short time he is going to be with us.”
