It comes as little surprise that Nathan Ake is being linked with moves to former club Chelsea, as well as Manchester City, ahead the January transfer window, with the Dutch international defender having quickly become one of Bournemouth’s most important players.

The 24-year-old has made over 80 appearances for the club since his permanent arrival in 2017, with manager Eddie Howe currently hoping that the injury suffered by Ake against Liverpool over the weekend is not too serious.

It took Jurgen Klopp’s side just a matter of seconds to find the back of the net following Ake’s departure from the field. Ake’s ability both defensively and on the ball have served the Cherries well over recent years, with the Dutchman having 10 Premier League goals to his name. Ake is also one of the few naturally left-footed centre-halves around today, so it’s no surprise that a hefty price tag has been put on his head.

His latest injury is a blow to the team, with the Cherries having already conceded 24 goals so far this season, including 11 in their last five outings.

Bournemouth finished 14th in the Premier League last season, but with the backing of many they hope to finish significantly higher this time around. Placing your bet at an old-time bookie or a new betting site on the Cherries doing just that could well be fruitful, however their run of poor form at the end of the year will certainly be of concern for fans at Dean Court.

Ake is almost certain to miss his side's trip to former club Chelsea on Saturday, while it remains to be seen as to whether he will feature again in 2019.
