BOURNEMOUTH climbed into third place in South League Premier Division 2 West with a 2-1 win over Maidenhead.

It wasn’t straightforward though, as Bournemouth had to put in some defence overtime to secure their fourth victory in seven outings.

A goal in each half by Sam Bury and Conor Moors won it for their side, who made a bright start, keeping possession for large periods before taking a deserved lead from a penalty corner.

Bury has perfected a slow motion drag flick over the years and his shot found the bottom corner perfectly.

Bournemouth then moved up a gear, playing the ball around the back, allowing runs to be made higher up the pitch.

Their confidence was punctured, however, when Maidenhead began to create more pressure and, despite some often frantic Lions defending, equalised through James Luff.

Bournemouth bounced back and might have regained the lead several times before Conor Moors bagged his fourth goal of the season to give his relieved side the win points.

Bournemouth’s next fixture is away to Southgate 2s on November 16.
