Former Poppies player Charlie Dibba has sadly passed away after a battle with leukaemia.
A statement on Poppies’ Twitter read: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and ex-player, Charlie Dibba has passed away.
“Charlie was very well known for being part of this family for many years, who recently fought a big battle against cancer.
“A dad, son, brother and a true friend to many. A talented individual, inside and outside the pitch, defined by many who knew him as one of the kindest, good-hearted and genuine person who always had a big smile.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole Dibba’s family and everyone close to them.
“We will always remember you and take you with us, wherever we go.”
A GoFundMe page had been set up in September to help fund treatment for Charlie which raised £12,000, surpassing the target of £10,000.
