DANNY Holmes is calling for a "response" from his Wimborne side when they host Yate Town on Saturday (3pm).

Magpies took an early lead before slumping to a 4-1 defeat at Taunton Town on Tuesday night as their FA Trophy quest ended at the first hurdle.

But with a return to Southern League South this weekend against a side below Wimborne in the table, boss Holmes is looking to get straight back on track.

He told Radio Wimborne: "I think there will be a few changes. I went 3-5-2 on Tuesday and brought a few players in because they need time, they need minutes.

"This month was a real hard month. We had a great display against Dorchester (2-1 win) and we started to defend better against Chesham (1-0 loss). I can see better shape.

"I felt against Dorchester and against Taunton on Saturday (2-2 draw), there were lots of positives.

"We've got to keep the positives, but certainly on Saturday, at home, against Yate, I'll be looking for that response."

Kieran Roberts marked his return to the Magpies side with a goal at Taunton and Holmes admits having lots of players to choose from brings up challenges to overcome.

He said: "Now the squad's getting bigger, you've got to try and keep people happy.

"That's the hardest task really, more than the football side of it and the structure and tactical side, it is keeping your squad happy.

"It's always hard, but at the end of the day it's about results.

"People can't come knocking on the door if they're not producing it as a group. That's something I've still got to look at. Is it me?

"We've got to learn quick and I'm sure this group of lads will pull through."
