WIMBORNE Town are out of the FA Trophy after a comprehensive defeat at Taunton Town in their first qualifying round replay.

Magpies squandered a 2-0 lead to draw the original tie at Cuthbury on Saturday, and fell to a 4-1 defeat in Somerset on Tuesday evening.

Danny Holmes's side got off to a flying start at Wordsworth Drive, taking the lead in just the third minute when striker Kieran Roberts broke beyond the defence and skipped around goalkeeper Lloyd Irish before slotting in.

After struggling during the early stages, Taunton tested Cameron Plain midway through the first half and then equalised through Andrew Neal.

A stunning double stop from Plain kept the game level going into the break, but unanswered second-half finishes from Lewis Hall, Matt Wright and Ollie Chamberlain sent the Peacocks through.

Magpies: Plain, Penny, Davidson, Byrne, Poole, Hester (Bayston), Maybury, Clarke (Doe), Lee (Young), Burbidge, Roberts.

Unused sub: Stokoe.
