BOSS Danny Holmes believes it will be a “very hard ask” to seal a positive result at Taunton Town in an FA Trophy replay tomorrow.

The Wimborne manager saw his troops let slip a two-goal lead at home against the Peacocks on Saturday in a 2-2 draw at Cuthbury.

That result set up a replay between the two sides at Cygnet Health Care Stadium with the winners hosting Aveley in the second qualifying round on Saturday, November 9.

Holmes told the Daily Echo: “They’re a top side and they will be there or thereabouts. Sometimes, you’d rather have a game than a training session.

“We can get some more repetition in our gameplay now that we seem to have more confidence on the ball.

“I’m looking forward to it. I took a lot of pluses out of Saturday – our counter-attacking was really good.

“It’s going to be a very hard ask to go there and get a positive result. We’ll go there and have a go.”

Midfield veteran Carl Pettefer was forced off after 56 minutes last time out due to a hamstring injury and is likely to miss out on the tie, with Holmes keeping eye on Saturday’s return to league action.

He added: “It probably will be a bit too quick for him (Pettefer). It’s the old cliché of one game at a time but we’ve got Yate at the weekend and that is a six-pointer.

“We need to be getting points in the league, so there will be some rotation. I have to utilise the squad.”

Rico Wilson made a goalscoring start to his Magpies career but was forced off in his second game at Farnborough with an ankle injury.

The issue is set to keep him out for “a few weeks” according to the Cuthbury manager.
