DANNY Holmes wants Wimborne to show their “desire” in a “great local derby” against Dorchester Town at Cuthbury tomorrow.

The hosts sit directly above Callum Brooks’s side on goal difference in Southern League South – occupying 18th in the table.

Holmes told Radio Wimborne: “It’s a great local derby, and I’m expecting us to be right on our game.

“It will be a great atmosphere under the lights. I’m expecting us to go out there and show a lot of commitment, desire and togetherness and, hopefully, we can get a result.”

With Wimborne winless in four league games, Holmes is keen to revitalise the club’s fortunes.

“Hopefully it’ll be the kickstart we need,” he added. “If we get a result, we can get something rolling and a run together.

“We certainly got the basis of a side to create chances. We just have to get into that rhythm. At the moment, we have to keep going, keep trying.”

Dorchester go into the contest having beaten Yate Town 2-0 at home on Saturday.

“Especially against teams around us, we have to step up and show a little more bravery,” Holmes continued. “That’s what’s got to happen in the next few weeks.

“We have to believe in what we are doing and keep working at it. It will come together. We have to avoid going into panic mode.

“We’ve got freshness in the squad, so I might rotate it again. It’s about finding where the goals are, working in units and see where we go. I’ll assess the situation ahead of the game.”
