DANIEL Farke praised the work done by Eddie Howe at Cherries but insists Norwich are "not going there because the coast is nice, we want to get some points".

Norwich sit 19th in the Premier League table on a run of three straight defeats ahead of their clash at Vitality Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

But Farke remains upbeat about his side's prospects.

“Even if we travel to the Etihad, each game is a chance to get points," said the Canaries boss.

"We're full of respect for Bournemouth and Howe's work. He's done a fantastic job over a long-term period.

“They have a compact setup and solid group with great offensive players. We know we are the underdogs and it will be the same.

"We have to be at our best to get some points. We're not going there because the coast is nice, we want to get some points.”

The two sides' last encounter was during last season’s Carabao Cup, with the Cherries coming out 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Steve Cook and Junior Stanislas.

“It's quite difficult to create chances against them so we have to be patient," said Farke.

"In the cup game last season, we had to be patient. You have to wait for the gap to find a precise pass.

“You can't compare the cup game from last season because there were several changes. The task for them at home to a newly-promoted side is to win all three points. It's a huge task for us.

“I like that Bournemouth have a compact setup and good team spirit. They are also brave in their pressing and with the ball. Wherever they play, they want to go with their style. I like that a lot."

Farke, who is now into his third season with the Canaries, is hoping to emulate Howe and Bournemouth by making Norwich’s stint in the top-flight permanent.

“Eddie has made Bournemouth a permanent member of the Premier League," he said.

"They stand for a special philosophy and style of play, so they can be a role model for us, improving from year to year, even though the first and second are unbelievably difficult. They were always calm and focused on what they were doing.”
