FOUR debutants for Bournemouth Poppies were powerless to prevent their miserable form continuing – as they were dumped out of the FA Vase.
Despite fielding new recruits Scott Walker, Fabio Manuel, Shane Sheridan and Levi Hernández in their starting XI, the Victoria Park side suffered a 2-1 first-round home exit at the hands of Petersfield.
The visitors raced into the lead on 17 minutes when striker Matt Low found the net. The advantage was then doubled through Michael Wright five minutes past the hour mark.
And despite Jamie Trimble pulling a goal back for Poppies, they missed out on a place in round two.
Poppies have now lost seven on the bounce in all competitions – they have not won since August.
Elsewhere, Rafa Ramos hit a hat-trick as Brockenhurst overcame Andover New Street 6-1 in the first round of the Russell-Cotes Cup.
Zak Pickett, Mitchell Speechley-Price and Noel McCarthy-Gardiner were also on target for Badgers.
Dom Falco’s goal proved the difference to send Lymington Town through after a 1-0 win at New Milton.
Connor Stevens and Ryan Hamm scored for Ringwood Town in their home clash with Fleet Town but a Billy Oram double, as well as a goal for Taylor Watts earned the visitors a 3-2 success.
