CO-PROMOTER Danny Ford was fully behind the SGB Premiership play-offs and said: “They really add something to the sport.”

Despite finishing top of the regular league season this campaign, defending champions Poole fell to a gut-wrenching 94-86 defeat against Ipswich in a two-legged semi-final.

The Witches will meet Swindon in the grand final next week, after the Robins breezed past Wolverhampton over two legs.

Ford told the Daily Echo: “I have no problem with the play-off format. No complaints from me on that.

“I love the play-offs. I think they really add something to the sport and it gives the supporters something to get behind.

“You can have an absolutely fantastic season like we did finishing top but when it comes down to it there’s four teams in the play-offs and they all start at zero.

“It has worked for us in the past and worked against us in the past. Last season it worked in our favour.

“You look at other sports like American football, they do the same and it gives the season a great climax.”
