GOALS from Harry Baker and Luke Holmes ensured Poole Town regained top spot in Southern League South following a 2-0 victory at Gosport.

After Corby Moore and Marvin Brooks had gone close with chances at Privett Park, summer signing Baker netted his third goal in as many games to break the deadlock two minutes before half-time.

His deflected strike snuck past former Cherries youngster Patrick O'Flaherty in the home goal to find the net.

And following the interval, new recruit Holmes continued his impressive Dolphins return by doubling the advantage.

The former Wimborne and Dorchester Town man let fly from 25 yards, with another deflection helping the ball on its way in.

Poole have now picked up six wins from eight league games this season, with 19 points from a possible 24.

Tom Killick’s side make the trip to 19th-placed Hendon on Saturday.

Dolphins: Cairney, Gleditsch, Leslie-Smith, Spetch, Whisken, Holmes (Tavares, 90), Carmichael, Moore, Baker (Dennett, 66), Brooks, Cope (Bedford, 69). Unused subs: Richardson, Phillips (g/k).
